Realistic Desert Landscape
No third party plugin is used. All aspects are achieved using build in max features.
Built in Mental ray Proxy is used to populate the vegetation and small rocks. Everything is grouped and organized.
You can easily select a certain group and move around the trees, bushes or rocks. Depending on your shot, you can also reduce or increase the density of objects by deleting or populating further.
Scene at the moment consumes around 9 GB of ram when rendering. Feel free to delete the 'Source models' to make your scene lighter. They are included only if you need to adjust individual models and re populate them, otherwise they are not needed for the proxies to work.
There are a few effects applied inside max ( blur, color correction, gain, brightness / contrast ) Please be patient and let the frame to render completely. Once frame is done, it'll take a few seconds for effects to be applied.
A very basic color correction is applied to rendered preview images.
Background sky is set to 'Screen'. It's working great for still renders, however for animation where sky is visible it's better to composite the sky in post so it moves with your camera.
There is a Fog effect under environment. For correct results only use camera to render. If you render from perspective then range of fog would be incorrect. You can set the fog range under camera option. You can also set the fog density under Environment > Fog
